For my op-ed i decided to swtich my topic from cultural apropriation to how women are precieved in desi culture. I decided to do a topic that was more personal to me after looking at other people’s op-ed’s. Cultural appropriation was a good topic, and i had known of it through a genre of music but it wasnt something that i felt like i could speak on personally. Although it was something i had experinced, i think it didnt affect me too much because i was in a position where i had expected it. After looking at a few examples in class i decided to focus on a topic i had more to speak about. 

I decided yo switch to women in deis culture. I chose this topic because I have a lot to say on this growing up in a desi household. I ended up finding 2 research papers on women’s struggles in Pakistan and India from a book called Journal of International Women’s Studies and it talked about a lot of the struggles women went through in desi culture and how they varied according to culture and religon. I ended up writing a decent paper because i think i related to the topic on a personal level.
