This link takes us to an article of a study in a book called Journal of International Women’s Studies Volume 22, Issue 5, and Article 26. It was published June 2021 and it’s called Masculinity and Challenges for Women in Indian Culture. It talks about the standards that women in desi culture face and have to hold themselves to. I think that this would be a good addition to my paper because it talks not only about standards that women are held to but standards men are held to. Due to these standards men act the way they do, and use culture are a huge reason as to why they act like this.

Doshi, Vidhi. “Analysis | Why India’s Modern Women Say It’s a ‘Burden’ to Be Female.” The Washington Post, WP Company, 1 Dec. 2021, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2018/03/12/why-indias-modern-women-say-its-a-burden-to-be-female/

This link is an article that talks about how the women in Indian society feel. This article was published in december 2021 and it is called “Why India’s Modern Women Say it’s a ‘Burden’ to be a Female”  by Vidhi Doshi who is a writer for the Washington Post. This article talks about the accounts of different women and their experiences on the streets of India. How unsafe they feel and the things that should not be considered normal happen very frequently. This is going to help me in my essay because while already talking about the female standards on desi culture i also get to speak on the standards on men in desi culture.

Is women’s beauty used as a means to … – vc.bridgew.edu. (n.d.).   https://vc.bridgew.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2715&context=jiws

This link takes us to an article which is also a study. It’s also a book called Journal of International Women’s Studies Volume 23, Issue 1 and Article 10. It was published in February 2022 and is titled Is Women’s Beauty Used as a Means to Achieve Certain Ends?:Pakistani Women’s Perceptions of Body Objectification. This article talks about the beauty standards in desi culture and the advantages of it. It talks about pretty privilege and how women are offered more jobs, more hands in marriage and overall tend to be more successful in life as a prettier person. According the the beauty standards of course. This will be a good addition to my essay because besides just regular standards women have to face, beauty is another huge standard that many desi women try to live up to, and if not are belittled to the point of insecurity and vulnerability.
